Born and raised in a small farm town in North Carolina, Vernon Jones grew up with dirt under his nails and faith in his heart. His late mother instilled in him the values of hard work, the power of faith, and the courage to stand for what’s right, no matter the cost. These lessons guide Vernon as he serves Georgia with a bold, America First vision, always putting the Peach State first.
Vernon brought these principles to public service, serving as DeKalb County CEO, where he managed a $3.2 billion budget and a 7,000-strong workforce. Guided by his mother’s wisdom—“If you don’t have it, you don’t spend it”—he increased funding for roads, parks, and libraries while keeping the budget balanced. As a Georgia State Representative, Vernon earned an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association, championed voter ID laws, and fought to reduce government overreach, always prioritizing Georgians.
A principled leader, Vernon never shied from tough choices. When his former party strayed from Georgia’s values—embracing policies that threatened safety and prosperity—he took a stand, joining the Republican Party to unite, not divide. In 2020, Vernon became one of President Trump’s fiercest allies, speaking at rallies nationwide and delivering a keynote address at the Republican National Convention. His close partnership with Trump strengthens his resolve to deliver for Georgia.
